About David.

Growing up on the winding trails of England’s south coast with a backdrop of rolling hills, dramatic cliffs, and shimmering seas – it’s no surprise that David Miller is a runner who appreciates a great scene.

In the darkness of lockdown, David sought light. He picked up a camera and discovered his passion for trail running was matched by a talent for capturing the humanity and emotion of the sport. Ever since, David has been telling the stories of the world’s biggest and baddest races through his thoughtful and creative imagery.

David won the British Photography Awards People’s Choice prize in 2023 for his dramatic capture of Mathieu Blanchard prone in quiet contemplation on the finish line of UTMB. His iconic image of Jasmin Paris slumped under the famous yellow gate of the Barkley Marathons in 2024 has become one of the most iconic sport photographs of all time. And his photos from that event have become his first photo book, Do Not Block Gate, which reached the number one photography book on Amazon.

David’s images don’t just record history, they bring to life the human stories that lie behind the heroes on the trails.

“His images are some of the most inspirational we’ve seen, and really capture the beauty of the wild places in which we love to run.”

— Trail Running Magazine

“David Miller's photographs of the Barkley are just that. Not just images of objects but moments in time. They engage all the parts of the mind to create an image of those moments in time. The essence of what it felt like to be there...

The sound of silence.”
